Title:

Success Habits for Life

X

Timing:

8 Weeks

X

Driving Question:

How can the Success Habits help me overcome a challenge in life?

X

Project Description:

While reading The Diary of Anne Frank, students will be reflecting and analyzing how the characters in the play use the success habits to overcome the challenges. After the reading, students will write a narrative about how the success habits have helped them overcome a challenge or reflect on how they could have used the success habits to help them overcome the challenge.

  • Curious- “I want to learn more.”
  • Self-Advocate-“I recognize what I need and use resources to help myself.”
  • Grit-“I keep trying even when something is difficult.”
  • Problem Solving-“I recognize a challenge and apply strategies to find solutions.”
  • Reflective- “I learn from successes and failures.”
  • Collaborative- "

Final Product(s):

Students will work in groups (determined by like challenges) to create podcasts addressing the overarching topics of their personal narratives.

Essential Standards:

Potential Community Outreach:

Students create PSA posters to place around the building to educate other students/adults on how the success habits can help them overcome challenges. Students will also record podcasts, that will be available to listen to on our school website.

Teacher Reflection:

Students really connected to this PBL. It was nice to incorporate a building-wide initiative (Success Habits) and have the students reflect on them in a real world situation, not just in the school setting. Students really opened up in their personal narratives about different challenges that they have had to overcome. The podcast will be new this year (2020) so, we have not yet completed this final product.
