Title:
Food Truck Face Off
Timing:
4-5 weeks
Driving Question:
Can passion equal profit?
Project Description:
Students will work in teams to create a Food Truck business. They will work through areas such as: getting a job, learning the profit equation/business basics, and trying to earn a profit by creating a sellable food item.
Final Product(s):
Food item, advertisement, pricing sheet, paper “food truck” model, and menu.
Essential Standards:
Apply basic business concepts to projects.
Potential Community Outreach:
Invite members of the community, and school district, in for the Food Festival.
Teacher Reflection:
- Build in how to price out a recipe into the budgeting or cooking unit. Don’t want until the project to teach this.
- Be sure to create checkpoints throughout the project to add grades. The project moves quickly so making sure to check in often is helpful.
- Have clear rubrics for students to reference.
