Title:

Design and Play

X

Timing:

3 Weeks

X

Driving Question:

How can we as third grade designers, collaborate using the design process to create games for our peers?

X

Project Description:

Design and Play uses peer feedback and the design process as students create games for their older peers.

Final Product(s):

After researching game characteristics, students created a game for their peers based around a math topic using the design process.

Students wrote an opinion piece on why students should make and create in school.

In a parent showcase, students taught their families about the design process.

Essential Standards:

R.1.A, R.3.A, R.3.C, W.3.A, TS.7.B, ETS1

Potential Community Outreach:

Aside from partnering and teaching our game to a 4th grader, we share our games by teaching our families at our showcase.

Teacher Reflection:

Design and Play engaging and always the students' favorite PBL of the year. It is very easy to make small adjustments to hit various standards.
